You're invited to call Lake View and beautiful Black Hawk Lake your home.
A great town with great people, Lake View has a natural spring fed lake
surrounded by rock boulders. Black Hawk Lake offers 957-acres of recreational
area and is the southern most glacial lake in the United States. Fifty percent
of the lake shoreline is accessible to the public.
Along the shore..........
Take in the view from the two historic Stone Piers built by Civil
Conservation Corp. (CCC) during the Great Depression. Restored in 1999 the Stone
Piers are favorite places to fish, enjoy the scenery and watch birds. How about
a family picnic? Black Hawk Lakes Picnic areas include Speaker Park, Denison
Beach, Ice House Point, Gun Shot Hill, 30 Acres and Lake Arrowhead. Many sites
offer shelters, playground equipment or beach access for fishing.
You won't want to miss the
annual Water Carnival. Each year the third weekend in
July, Lake View hosts a Water Carnival that attracts thousands. Featured events
include a one-of-a-kind evening Parade of Water Floats, fireworks on the lake,
talent contest, water activities and fun for all.
Visit the Lake View Historical Museum offering a unique display of 130 bird
species with an 1870 log cabin on the grounds. Or spend some time watching area
wildlife. Spot or photograph Beautiful eagles, waterfowl, swans, blue herons and
pelicans from Town Bay, Cottonwood Point and Provost Slough in Black Hawk Lake
area and in the Hallett Pits area south of Lake View.
Cast out a line for Walleye, crappies, bullheads, catfish, bass, and blue gill.
Fishing spots include north and west Stone Piers in Town Bay and the floating
handicap accessible dock on the north area of Ice House Point. Or take a tour,
walk or pedal your bicycle on the Sauk Rail Trail--a 33-mile recreation trail
that connects Black Hawk State Park and Swan Lake State Park south of Carroll.
Soak up the Sun as you Swim, sunbathe or build your sand castle. Family fun is
waiting for you on the Crescent Park Town Beach, Sac or Denison Beach.
Playground equipment, sand swimming beach and miniature golf are available
lakeside. Visit Chief Black Hawk as the 11' statue, sculpted in 1934 as part of
the WPA Arts program under the direction of Grant Wood, stands guard over the
lake near Crescent Park.
Take a drive and enjoy the Sac County Barn Quilts throughout the county or bring
your clubs and enjoy a round of golf at well manicured courses near Lake View.
On the Water.......
You'll find all sorts of water craft on Black Hawk Lake with boat ramps at 30
Acres, Ice House Point, the Marina and Crescent Beach in Town Bay. Water ski or
pull the kids on a tube or view shore line land marks as you enjoy a sunset or
sunrise over the lake. Bring your fishing gear and go after Walleye, crappies,
bullheads, catfish, bass, and blue gill. Fish cleaning facilities are available
on shore.
When Black Hawk Lake freezes ice skating, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross
country skiing and snow shoeing begin. Don't miss the annual Arctic Open Golf
Tournament.
